MADRID | The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has resumed all its procedures, and the period of grace for driving license renewals expires this week.
The expiration date was suspended, due to the Pandemic and state of emergency, for a period of 60 days from June 21.
On August 21, the deadline to catch up with the renewal for all those drivers whose license expired before May 31 ends.
Failure to carry out the procedure in these cases will result in driving with an expired license and therefore committing a serious offense, which according to the Traffic Law carries a penalty of a 200 euro fine.
The renewal of the license can be carried out in three ways: from an associated Driver Recognition Centre, from a Headquarters or Traffic Office or from abroadat the Spanish diplomatic or consular representation of the country in which the interested party is located.
