ESTEPONA | The Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today laid the first stone of the 100 Social Housing Units (VPO) that began to be built earlier this month on a municipal plot located in the Juan Benítez area, next to the Mar de Alborán school.
The Mayor explained that this initiative complies with one of his electoral commitments and also contributes to promoting access to housing for people and groups who struggle to get on the housing ladder.
The Town Council awarded the transfer of these lands to the Fundación Vimpyca Charitable Entity for Construction (EBC) to carry out this type of building, aimed at promoting access to housing for residents of the town.
These houses will be of mixed types; that is, 52 houses for the Special Regime and 48 for the General Regime. Therefore, all family units whose income does not exceed 2.5 times the IPREM, in the first case, and 3.5 times the IPREM for the second, will be able to access these homes.
In addition, those interested must be registered in the municipal registry of housing applicants, which is located in the Estepona Town Council, Puertosol building and not have any other property.
The homes are designed with one, two and three bedrooms, and there are also adapted homes for people with reduced mobility. All of them have attached elements, such as a parking space and a storage room. The homes have a sale price from 81,600 euros and are expected to be delivered in a maximum period of 24 months. The urbanization of the residential complex, which will be named ‘Garum Estepona’, will have a swimming pool and interior community areas with a children's area.
