Estepona.- Estepona Council will hold a full session next Tuesday, May 5, in which a proposañ to modify the 2020 budget will be submitted to the session for the inclusion of the sum of money corresponding to the 2019 surplus, which amounts to 7,884,225.89 euros.
In this way, the Council complies with the Law of Budgetary Stability and Financial Sustainability, while waiting for the central government to authorize the municipalities to dispose of all of these amounts for expenses the town anticipates from social and economic requirements for recovery due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

The Mayor of Estepona has demanded that the request by the municipalities to central government, issued through the board of directors of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), be addressed so that the State allows that municipalities can use the surplus and the municipal treasury balance to meet the needs of the population and to enable an economic injection in the most dynamic sectors of the country that will help accelerate Spain's economic and social recovery.
